I know times are rough now and I’m not the only one out of work. But if any of you that live in the North Charleston and Hanahan area have any scrap stuff laying around that I could haul to the scrap yard I would appreciate it. I’m just trying to make a few bucks to help with the bills. you can text me at 714-1199
Thanks, Bill
I am in Mt Pleasant…but I have a broken wine chiller, several sheets of dry wall (maybe you can sell them for a few bucks), and several sheets of cheap weathered plywood.
Free if you want anyone of it. Otherwise, it goes to the curb this Friday.
Dude, I’m going to be really brutal… Sell the 16’ Bonito.
What is your area of skill and what work background do you have? Start some networking right here. Actually lot’s of work available depending on personal drive and pay expectations.
What we need is an American work force willing to force out the illegal immigrants… I know … it will be hard to do with all the Government hand outs available and most unemployed people unwilling to give up niceties and just get by on the basics while working what ever job pays money.
Thanks St, I’ll give that some thought. Just don’t like to drive the old truck too far because it has some mechanical issues.
Fred the Bonito belongs to my son or the wife would have already gotten rid of it. I don’t even know what niceties are. I’ve lived pay check to pay check all my life. In my last line of work I was making$18 an hour. I know that is way out of reach now and don’t even expect it. However I really have to have at least $500 a week before taxes in order to keep my head above water. I stripped down the Key West and sold everything off it except the trailer and am still trying to sell it. The wife only gets $388 a month on disability and that just doesn’t go far at all. To break down what I do or have done is like this.
For the last 30 years I have worked on office equipment but getting nowhere with that.
Before that goes kinda like this:
1.Did some automotive work
2.Drove a single axel dump truck for a land scapeing company.
3.Worked for a construction company.
4.Drove a fork lift in a couple different warehouses.
5.Worked as an outside machinist.
The above was all before 1983.
I applied for a delivery job at a local seafood supplier and the man looked at me kind of funny. Then asked where my driving experience was. Talked to a man today about a delivery job but it is only 30 hours a week and !2 an hour. Might take that one just to get some money coming in until something else comes along.

Take the delivery job to get something coming in. It could turn into more hours & pay. In the meantime, keep looking for another job. Have you thought about temp employment agencies? Sometimes they can turn into full time positions, mine did. Have you been to the state employment office? Also, if you’re up to it, sell your plasma. You can make a couple of hundred or more a month doing that.

Happy Bob, I have been and registered with the temp services, going through the state office and will check out the plasma thing.
Thanks.
SFL, I have downloaded the manual and have been studying it. Have also been taking some online practice tests. How ever I will still need the vehicle for the driving test. That is where the problem comes in.
Thanks
CRMH, talk to your neighbor and let me know where it is. You can call or text me at the number in the original post.
Thanks, Bill
Bill - Nice meeting you last night.
What temp. services are you registered with? We may have some warehouse temp. help needed in the next few months.
Pay isn’t great…but it will definitely give you some extra cash.
I feel your pain on the job hunt. Someone asked me why I didn’t change careers (I’m an unemployed insurance adjuster w/24 years experience) and I told them there isn’t a job out there that I probably could not do, but on paper…my skills are insurance adjuster. I’m sure my resume hits the round file.
It’s hard to find a great job outside of your past career. Hang in there.

I hear ya Claim, I’m just trying to get back to work. It doesn’t have to be a great job. I’ll settle for good right now. I’m not ready to give up everything and be a miserable couch potato. Fixing to have to sell my s10 and that will put an end to me going fishing or anything else outdoors.
Donnie told a friend who does some tree cutting and trimming… He sometimes needs help just stacking limbs and such. He will call us if he has a job and needs help. We have a few things we will be doing to the house soon…shed/deck…will call you if we need help in that. Keeping you in my prayers and my ears and eyes open for you.
Thanks Penny, I’m so grateful to all of you who have offered me stuff and suggestions. I’m usually the one that helps other people do things and not expect anything in return and take care of my own without asking for help. I guess sometimes a person has to swallow their pride and ask for a little help. This is the longest I’ve been out of work in over 30 years. The wife doesn’t under stand what it’s doing to me not being able to take care of my own. She said I should call my friend down the street and ask for some money for all the stuff I’ve done for him in the past few years. We consider each other friends but $$$ is one thing we have never mentioned or shared. He is mad because I haven’t gone fishing with him in the last year. I want to so bad but can’t help pay for anything. Thanks again for ya’lls kindness and generous offers.
