Little R&R 4/29

Boy, was I ever busy this day! Left Remley’s 4:30 headed toward 226 and got within 8 miles of our destination when we saw what appeared to be a mop bucket floating nearby. Put out lines and as soon as they went by the bucket two rods went off. Got one slinger. Went back by, got one gaffer. Temp 72.5 depth 230. Trolled toward the 226,water temp goes down instead of up. Hooked into a large Mako which gave us several aerial views before we decided to break it off. Decided we would go deeper if nothing happened by 10am and started to pullum when two went off and all hell broke loose because an army of dolphins came to the boat with the two hookups. One hour and 10 nice fish later it ended. 71.9-72.3 depth 450. Picked up a couple more heading up the ledge but nothing else. 2;30 decided to head in. Got within 41nm from home when we noticed a good slick with a nice weed line and no boats. We had put everything up including the tacos but could not turn this down. Put out first line in (no tacos)with it still in hand and it goes screaming. Second line gets in and the same result. Still trying to get the third line ready when the first fish comes in with another army of friends. Just flipped the third line in,free spooled for 5 secs and bam. It stayed like this for almost 1.5hrs and at 4:30 we decided we had enough.(18 dolphin 74.3 depth 195) However our young marine and his capt.daddy said just one more time. So two lines back in the water and both go off within 30 secs. with one being a bull well over 40lbs and the other being just another gaffer. Long story short the lines got crossed with the smaller fish line breaking.(Good!) 20 mins. later the young marine brings the bull starboard and one of our experienced capts immediately misses the first of three gaff attempts. This fish aint no dummy so he sounds. However our young marine aint giving up so he gets it alongside again. Now we have the other capt(Marines daddy)with a gaff in his hand also. We surely can’t miss now and we have better odds now! (two gaffs) Well now

awsome
