little river newbe

Landed a job at seacoast hospital.Company rented house for 2 months.Been fishing Murrells Inlet for a long time never been to little river.Any advice or warnings would be greatly appreciated. Also a good place to launch boat.

Launch under the 17 bridge on either side. Don’t try to run to cherry grove from little river on anything but extremely high tide;)

he mean like more than high tide lol.

From now until Christmas is probably the best time to fish the area. The speckled trout will be plentiful in the waterway from the 17 bridge North to state line. Lots of opportunities

thanks for the help coming in tomorrow.

Oh, sorry. LOL Hey, fish it a lot like you do in MI, just don’t have to worry about all the jet skis and whatnot in the backwaters. Find your usual shell banks and oyster rakes and whatnot. Also, there isn’t a deep swirl hole at the LR jetties on the north side like there is in MI. Uhhhh, bait is all over, but the bigger the better this time of year is what I’ve found. Also, pinfish are thick, so if you use skrimps make sure you have a lot of em. I’m bout to learn this trout trolling think, so I can’t help you with that yet. And good luck, dude!!!

All good advice! Have fun and we’ll see you on the water!

good luck buddy

Thanks again, probaly going to be next week. Had to put 94 year old mom in rehab. She feLL and broke her pelvis in 2 places. She comes first.
going to make a quick trip tomorrow but doubt if I bring the boat

Oh man, I’m so sorry to hear about your Mom. She will be in my prayers. Moms are precious. I run a white and green Hewes with a V-Max on it. If you see me, come by and give me a shout.

Thanks, will be in a big green john boat named Miss Freeta, will be looking for you.

I will assume that the warning about running from L.R. to Cherry Grove was because it is shallow water. that being said if you are going to run it could you run out to deeper water and then come into Cherry grove inlet or is the inlet point there the shallow part to worry about? Any info about this warning would be really appreciated! Thanks

If you know the path you can come thru the backwater midtide or above, anytime by the ocean… if you know the path.

My best advice to you is to avoid running Dunn Sound period. My buddy yellabird and I was running his Hewes from LR to CG and ended up having to push pole through some of it just before high tide. Those channels have really filled in toward the bridge over the past few years. Go to the point and look at the sandbars at low tide on a rough day. That will give you a picture of where the channel is. It’s not much of one, but it’s there. That’s the way I always go now. Good luck and be safe learing that channel, man! Or, you could just follow InletFool. He’s got it dialed in around there and even helped me catch a few trout this fall. I am ever grateful for that advice, InletFool. If I can repay it someday, don’t hesitate to ask, man!

Skrimp daddy…I wouldn’t recommend running into Hogg Inlet from the ocean without scoping it out on low tide like Gooze said. If you don’t hit the channel right you could end up stuck. And if the tide and the wind are bucking that is a pretty nasty spot. If you are in a shallow boat you could be sunk before you could unstick her.

Thanks man. if I ever decide to fish there I will probably launch from there and stay inside.
