They have done these for years on the evening news and the best times seem to usually correspond to before low tide. Have wondered where they come up with these forecasts, does anyone follow them, if so how accurate are they. I have always seen it as more of a novelty.
I have wonder the same question. Maybe someone will have some info.

I can remember as a kid seeing those fishing forecasts on Channel 5, must be 25 years or more.
To me its like the weather forecast,a guess.
They are the only people[forecasters] that get paid to lie about the weather and now the fishing reports.Go figure.
Double D.
www.tides4fishing.com kind of does the same thing, but at least gives you the methodology behind the “solunar activity” and other “coefficients”

Dang, I’ve always thought the same thing, where do their forecasts come from, how accurate are they? Anyone know?
I found this website a few years back for those forecasts:
http://www.wrightjustified.com/fishing_forecast.html
I’ve tried to follow the link above and the tides4fishing site for “best times” to fish but I’ve not noticed a correlation.

Yep, looks similar, and they have the dead low tide as best times.
I guess they look at it as less water more fish.

And all the fish are already 5 or 6 feet closer to the surface than at high tide.
