I have a 10 year old key west 1900 cc, and the washdown and live well crapped out over the winter. How can I assess which, or if both froze up and died?
Looks like there is a thru-hull fitting that goes to something called an Attwood A500. The A500 has one output that goes to the livewell and another output that goes to a filter then a sureflo washdown motor.
What’s the best way to see if I am getting power to these items? If I have to replace the attwood a500, how do I avoid having to mess with the thru hull fitting- can I just unscrew the attwood motor??
thanks!!
Same boat here, 1994. Mine has the livewell pump in the bilge with a intake with strainer sticking out the stern. My wash-down has a pump in the console with a thruhull in the bilge behind the oil reservoir attached to a seacock and strainer in between.
These are two separate systems with dedicated hoses for each between thruhulls, motors, and destinations. I don’t know why yours would have the washdown attached to the attwood motor.
Either way get a multi-tester and test all wires for each motor to make sure its not electrical. When you hit the switches can you hear either motor humming?
to clarify, the water goes from the thru hull to the attwood a5oo then two outputs: one to the live well direct and the other to the shurflo washdown.
How is that pump mounted in the boat? If the intake tube of the pump goes through the stern like mine does then you will have to take off the ring off the outside and pull the pump out from the inside. There is probably a bunch of sealant around that hole so that can be a pain. You’ll want to diagnose any electical problems and be certain that it is broken before trying to romove that pump.
I’d pull the wires that come from the pump and stick them on the corresponding battery terminals just to check if the pump works at all first.
Find the nearest splice from those wires and take it apart instead of snipping them and then having to add another.
