Live well placement opinions...

Hey guys just wanted to get some thoughts from you. I recently came across a portable 40 gallon live well. Its the aqua world type with the little sink and all. Anyway my question is placement. I only want to use it for additional bait in tournaments and offshore trips so i need to be able to take it out. Anybody have a mid size CC 23’-28’ with any experience? Running hoses and all isn’t a problem, a pain maybe but I can do it. So would you put it in the front of the CC or since my boat has a transom bracket we could put it on the transom bracket. But would the weight of 40 extra gallons be a huge weight difference as far as performance? Would the bait get banged around to bad in the front? Any thoughts?

40 gallons is about 340 pounds. Get two good sized friends and move them around the boat to see how it runs. I think moving it to the transom bracket may be a bit too much weight. Maybe the inside of the transom? Ideally you will want it closer to the stern to minimize sloshing and stress to the bait.

We run an extra 40 for tournaments in a 23 cc and have no problems with it…if it were my boat I would put some tie downs through the deck and put it in front of the cc.

You wouldnt happen to have any photos you could send me do ya? I would love to see just to get a visual idea of how yall did it. Thanks. If not thats ok to… Do yall have a problem with it being ruff in the bait up there?
