All the wires look good, switch went bad so i changed it. Put a new 20amp fuse and it blows as soon as i turn on the switch. Appreciate any advice on where to go from here.
How do you know the switch went bad? How big of a livewell pump do you have that requires a 20 A fuse?
- Did the problem exist before you changed the switch and are you sure you installed the switch correctly?
- Do more than a visual inspection of the wires…check for a short between the wires, postive wire to another ground in the boat, and basic continuity of the circuit with a VOM.
- If all you wiring is good, then the motor is most likely shorted internally. Is the shaft locked up or does is turn roughly?
