livewell problem

My livewell used to run great. Then one day, I activated the “aerator” switch, not so great anymore…

When I activate the aerator switch, I hear the pump running, but no water comes in…

Any ideas what is the problem, and how to fix it?

Can you get to the pump and pull the line off going to the well? Don’t know if they can be back flushed or not. May have something in the intake side. If you can pull the hose off you might can run it long enough to see if it is intake side or well side. Also pulling hose off will let you pour waster in well to see if hose is bad. Mabe your hosr is broken between pump and well.

Mine did the same thing, replaced it (which takes less than 10 minutes) and it was still doing the same thing. Ended up being the nozzle in the actually well itself wasn’t turned to “open.” Felt like an idiot, but the old pump needed to be replaced anyway. Worth looking at that nozzle maybe.

Live well pumps don’t live long in salt-water.
I usually replace mine every 3years.
Had one that didn’t make it that long. But like some of the others have said, make sure the hose isn’t plugged and the valve in the livewell is open. If all that is good, try running the pump with the discharge hose off to see if you have any flow from the pump without any head pressure. (don’t run the pump long like this cause if you have flow it will end up in the bilge ) If still no flow, remove the inlet hose and check it for trash.
My gut feeling is the pump has succomb to the elements.
