Had a great day on the water with Ed, Erik, Patrick and crew. We went for some early bottom fishing and Erik managed a keeper gag on a butterfly jig at the cost of another jig. We were covered in vermilion and couldn’t get away from them to get our full 5 seabass. We did manage to also put a handful of decent triggers on the boat using our circle hooks which always makes us happy. When it was time to dive we all dropped in on an awesome ledge that yielded all of our spiny lobster and several grouper. The lobster weren’t squealing loud enough because we never did see any hogfish come into gun range. Visibility could have been better but it was still very diveable at 20’. There is still a rude 10 degree thermocline at about 50’. We hit a smaller ledge for the 2nd dive and I was on hogfish patrol following behind the two lead divers who managed a mix of several more grouper. The hogfish never did show up but I did have a good time picking up a handful of slipper lobster. Comedic break was when one slipper lobster got out of my hands and latched onto my head and tank and I couldn’t get it off. I tried to signal Erik but I don’t know the hand signals for “get this friggin lobster off of my head please…”
My apologies to captain and crew for the delayed start.
Slipper lobster - VERY tasty but small
The haul from Ed’s BC pockets
This one wouldn’t cooperate and come out of the hole
