Anyone know if there’s an alternate place for the serial number on a 70 hp Mercury? Evidently the #s on an outboard I just purchased have been painted over.
…Politicians aren’t the “Oldest Profession”, but the results are still the same!!!

sometimes they can be located on the cylinder head, (white decal); If not look for it in an Inconspicuous location under the cowel.
Mine is on the powerhead of my 35 hp Johnson. The mounting bracket was replaced before I got it so it’s not on there

Take the cowling off.
Tilt the motor all the way up. (very important)
Turn the steering wheel clockwise as far as it will go.
Make sure the shifter is in neutral.
Lower the tilt supports underneath the motor down.
Lower the motor till it rest on the supports.
Now you are ready to go in house and look for the title.
