location x

48 hours and counting until departure. I can’t wait.
Chris.

Sounds like a blast. Please post a detailed report since pictures may not be taken for fear of revealing location x
Good luck!!

they are getting 100’s of shots a day and you can not find a report on that place. I know they call it the forgotten coast but a little PR has to help business.

shots at what? tarpon, bones, red? Don’t want to know the location of “location x” but curious as to what you are going after.

Best of luck!

Have been fishing there for 10 years. Fish REALLY react to the fly in stained water. Hope you have good weather. Good luck!

We stayed in Carrabelle at the Moorings. Nice place. No tarpon caught. We saw hundreds and had an assload of shots but no takers. The wind was up, 2-3 chop, and we had a hard time seeing the fish until the last second, with in 30’ of the boat. We had some fish that got with in 15’ of the boat with out us seeing them and explode off. No fish were laid up, they were all moving quickly.
Awesome place. The movie was shot in two places and we fished at the end of one of the spots. We saw a couple caught by other boats, but no luck for us. Our guide fished out of a 23 dorado and pretty much anchored up and waited for them to come to us. We only moved about 100’ all day. I will be back as soon as I can though. It took us 6 hrs from Hilton Head to get there. Better than driving to south fl or the keys.

We won a trip with Capt Gene Strickland. Good guy, definately set in his ways after 25 years there. We saw so many fish, I can not even imagine how many were 100’ from us that we could not even see. His son (tucker) saw a fraction of what we did and went 1/3.

6 hours huh? Might have to check that out soon. They should have fish swimming for a good while longer.

Check out gjuro bruer and Andy parker for that area. You want a guide that will pole you in position. But I hear its pretty unfishable when its honkin like that.

When I go back, I will take my boat. Not real hard to find fish. There is a huge sand bar that the movie was filmed on and there were guides every 300 yrds down that sand bar. As the tide goes out, the fish pull of the bar, as the tide comes in, they go to the bar. Our guide had a small hole, 40’x25’ or so, in the grass, that the fish would cruise into and then out. If we had did not have that hole, we would not have seen a fraction of the fish we did. All the fish we saw caught were at first light in slick water. Our guide was dedicated to his hole and not willing to go chase the fish on the “outside” as he called it.
We should get 2-3 boats and go in a month or so. The guide said he preferred the days prior to a new moon. He said the full moon puts them in over drive, good or bad. He said the this last one had them on lock jaw.

Yea, we never brought that up during the trip.
Seems to be more to the story than is reported, but it is what is.
He is a good guy though.

Glad you enjoyed the trip but sorry it was not very productive. It sounds like you learned a lot.
I am sure you could get a few guys to head that way with you.
I will be around your area in about a month. Hopefully we can catch up.
Keith
