Long ride home

Weather was great today, ride out at 30kts.Put some squid down and in very sort order limited out on Bsb’s. First fish to bite was a 20lb Red, released healthy. The fish we were looking for were not there today but the areas we dove were alive with fish.Saw some of the biggest ARS I have ever seen, 30+lbs. One sight had hundreds of 3/4lbs Ars’s. Viz about 30’and the current was kicking!Dives produced 4 lobster then the port motor lost all its oil due to a pinhole in the oil filter. With weather forecast we decided to head in rather then risk the long ride home in nasty seas. 4.5hr ride home @6kts on an ocean that was flat calm. Can’t kill them every time but we have been truly blessed this year, had a good day though and the season is growing short. Water temp is falling steady at a few degrees a week @67deg,and will need the 8/7 wetsuit from here on out.Fun day with Capt Jimmy,Marline and Realfish01, can’t wait to go again.

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.

Better than working all day I’m sure…

My advice is my opinion only. I may have gotten that opinion from something I read while sitting on the toilet. Please keep that in mind when reading my posts, the information may not be correct.

Glad y’all made it back in safe. We were trying to avoid that weather too, but it never kicked up as bad as we thought it might.

Grady-Gone back to the G3!

Bug Catcher,
AS much as you go and as far as you go, I’m surprised you don’t carry extra filters, oil and replacement belts. Saved me from many a 6kt trip home.

Catch 'em up!

JAZ

glad you guys made it back safe! Jimmy hopefully it’s a quick fix.

Man now with the forecast for the next week I’m wishing I did run out Saturday for sheepshead.

Angler’s Dream

jazman54, we fished on someone eles’s boat. We also fish regularly on 6/8 different rigs, Its impossible to carry everything you need for every possible scenario. But we never leave without Sea-tow.Haven’t been towed, in about 4 years. That was a lower unit on a single engine rig, not much choice that time. Good average, as much as we go I would say! Did run out of fuel once 50 yards from the dock, downstream on an incoming tide after a trip with a single 150HP to Bubble rock and back! I think the limit of Yellow fish in the boat caused me to misjudge our weight for the ride in.Also may not have had the fuel bladder and 5gal jugs topped off all the way. A gallon of lawnmower fuel from Marlene’s husband got us back to Wapoo landing. Life is about taking chances, success is knowing what the odds are!!!

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.
