I’m a Marine stationed down on Parris Island and I just register orders to Okinawa Japan for the years. I have '09 Carolina Skiff with 115 yamaha that I have 6 months of payments left on. My orders are for three years and I would love to hang on to my boat. Is there a good way to store a boat and engine for that amount of time ? What type of Maintenance issues am I looking at to get it back on the water after that amount of time? Am I crazy for trying to store it for this amount of time?
I would think the best thing would be to drain the tank. Run all the fuel out of motor.
Hopefully someone smarter than me will be along soon to help out.

If you can’t stand behind our soldiers, try standing in front of them.
I have a bud who went to China to work for 5 years. He drained the tanks as far as he could then put a fogger solution thru the motors until they ran dry. Then he pulled the plugs and sprayed the fogger in the cylinders while I turned motor over with plugs out and wires off. He came back last year fueled tanks put in fresh batteries and both motors cranked up within minutes. He had blocked the trailer and taken tires off. This worked with both his off-shore cat and his jon boat. I think you can store the boat its just imperative to fog the cylinders so the rings do not adhere/rust to the cvlinder walls.
