I have not missed a show since they started at North Woods Mall. It’s just a great thing to do in January. The event people in charge of parking sucked. Put people by I-526 over 1/4 mile from the entrance. Main lot still had plenty of space. Oh well.
Lots of new vendors and some that were absent from previous years. There were some good looking boats as usual and I was surprised at all the " Sold " tags that I saw. Vendors were gracious and had some good info, dealers were laid back and not being pushy, so it looks like things are picking up economy wise. Only one real food vendor outside which surprised me. The guy that does the chain saw art was so short, I thought he might have had an accident. He had an impressive supply of drift wood, but prices seemed high. He could handle a saw though.
The best vendor had to be the Pirate display. Two young ladies were manning the booth and one was in period costume. She was rated “R”. I’m sure a bunch of moms steered their kids away. Very popular booth by the way. It was way hard not to buy something from them. Good show overall, lots of people, lots to see. Then I had to make that trek back to my truck. Stupid parking people.
Sounds like a blast. I was at the Southern Home Show over at Hagood stadium today instead (I am a vendor there). Was fun there too, but for a different reason for me lol.
I wish they hadn’t scheduled those two together.
Thought the display of boats was very good as always, only one food vendor did kinda suck, but the BBQ sandwiches were good.
SeaFox guys were pushy…Real pushy.
No RVs were a bit of a dissapointment.
Thought the Cobia brand has made the most improvements over the last couple of years, their boats seem solid and had a lot of fishability built into them.
Always a fun day.
The parking for us was great. We parked in the rear lot, was picked up immediately by a stretch golfcart and dropped off a the front door. When we left, we were whisked away again by another stretch cart and dropped off at the vehicle. Pretty nice since my back was about to kill me by then.
Sea Hunt had many models on display- impressive for a company that was shelved a few years ago. Did Scout stop making the Abacos series or just not bring them? Not many Grady’s it seemed. I liked the Dragonfly SUP with the LED gigging lights- now who thought of that?
Brought home another years worth of koozies, croakies, …and a boat.

Ditto, without accompanying pictures, it is unfair to even mention such images.
Arrrrgh, Matey. Show us the booty at said boat show!
Our booth was next to the “Pirates” and yea the costume was definately catching some eyes, but the poor girl wearing it could not stand it much past early afternoon and toned it down. I was just happy for the cookies and brownies they kept sharing with us!
All in all I thought it was a pretty decent show, the crowd seemed about par for the course and as always got to shake hands with hundreds of my customers. The few boat dealers I spoke with on saturday seemed cautiously optimistic so all in all seemed a success
You were next to the pirate booth and didn’t take pictures? Was your wife standing next to you or what?
Seems like some man cards are about to be confiscated.
I suppose I should have just gone to the boat show myself.

boss might have frowned upon photo taking of that:wink:
I believe I’ll need to make plans to go to the boat show next year. Hopefully the pirates will be back.

Overall the show was a lot of fun, but I’m always shocked by the number of sales people that don’t know their own product. One guy had 3 boats at his booth and had no idea the performance numbers on two of them. Hold me to ask the other guy. That being said, there were others that were very knowledgeable. Really enjoyed talking to the Ranger guys even though they knew I wasn’t in the market.
I was there also, I liked the Chris Craft line, that should work out for the powerball winners and the contender bay boat that was really bad… crap parking and no knowlegable staff…

What does that mean? What happened to them?

Sea Hunt is alive and still producing boats in Columbia
That’s what I thought, I love the 25’ escape with a hardtop they are making these days.

+1 on the Cobia’s. The 217 is now on my short list.
