Does anyone know anything about Long’s Trailer Company out of nc? I know that they are out of business now but I was curious if anyone had any other info on them. I have one of their galvanized trailers and i’m considering changing it over to bunks (currently rollers) if it is considered a good trailer… Just hate to spend that kind of money fixing one up if it’s not gonna last me a good while. thanks! Craigan.
They were and still are good trailers. Still see them around when I go back to NC. They have really heavy duty frames which makes them heavy, but like any galvanized trailer, they WILL rust out over time.

SOmeone told me they were dipped galvanized… Does this make them better?
I had a long trailer under my old boat. They are well built and heavy. The only thing I replaced on mine were the springs, bearings and brakes. It is built so heavy I don’t think you will wear it out.
Bought one from Henry’s about 10 years ago for a Whaler and it is still holding up strong.
Hot dipped galvanized is always better than electroplating.
Of course, if it isn’t prepped correctly, all bets are off.
Galvanizers first ensure all rust is removed from the product. They then dip the material into a vat of cleaning solution. The material is then allowed to dry. Then it is dipped into a vat of molten galvanizing material.
Tubular metal products must have adequate venting holes drilled prior to dipping in the molten galvanizing vat.
It is always a good idea to rinse both the exterior and interior surfaces of your trailer after immersion in salt water.
