Started out kayak fishin and was honestly full steam addicted until I got my 15’ whaler last spring. Not that I didn’t still enjoy kayaking, it’s just a hell of a lot more convenient if there not in one spot moving to another.
So my boat I’ve put out of commission to do some work on. I still have a pompano 120 old tarpon body that I plan on using despite all the poor success I’ve had lately. Got a 11" flounder last week and a 16" red this. Besides that I had been skunked for almost 2
months.
If any one wants some company out there hit me up.
Heck, if I could actually find any time to fish, I’d join you. Someone will respond. You may want to check the kayak club…Lowcountry Kayak Anglers
“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”.
Come out and join us next Sunday for the Meet & Fish. 10:00am at Paradise landing. It’s a great chance to meet fellow kayak fisherman and spend some time on the water. As Doug mentioned, check out the Lowcountry Kayak Anglers group on facebook. Hope to see you out there.
I’m interested. Just moved to SC from Maryland last month. Haven’t had a chance to get out yet. I only have freshwater gear, but wouldn’t mind going after some reds.
Welcome Aaron. You should join us on Sunday as well. From a former Marylander…Fear the Turtle.
Thanks. I’m not originally from MD. Originally from Louisiana, lived there until I joined military. Moved around a bit…Va, Ca, then Maryland. Finally settling down. I will check out the FB page and scout Paradise landing on Google Earth to see how far it is. I heard there is some bad weather coming, but hopefully not.
In any case, if I can get out (gotta check with the boss), I think I can manage with my baitcasting setup…any recommendations for setup…what do I need to pick up? Soft plastics/hook sizes? I haven’t fished salt since I was a kid and my dad did everything back then.
Welcome to Charleston…come out and hang with us on Sunday. I like to use plastics…jigheads of 1/8-oz with a few different colors like shad, pearl white, etc is a good start. Lots of folks use braided line for their reels, with a flourocarbon leader. I like to use spinning reels, 2500 or 3000-size matched with a medium or med-light rod.
I’m planning on fishing the upper wando from paradise landing on Wednesday afternoon if your interested. Planning on launching around 2:30 and fishing the last half of the outgoing tide.
