A Stinger is basically a fiberglass jon boat. Out of business now, but was made locally on Dorchester Rd. It’s kind of a Scout hull copy. No frills build, splatter coat interior, some had bench seats. Be careful of cracks though, some were made without enough glass and developed cracks. It can be fixed easily though. Great boat for what it sounds like you are looking for.
With all that said, I personally would buy something like this over that Stinger. You get the ability to launch anywhere like a kayak, but able to cover more water.
Hard to tear up a Carolina skiff, Had mine come off the tra. at 55 MPH on to asphalt road! I backed up to it and winched it back on the tra. and went fishing! Great boat!!
I will call him this morning. What is y’alls opinions as far as a this 14 foot and gigging or shrimping off the front? Will the boat be stable enough and not to small?(Crab island) Also on 1 to 2 foot is it dangerous to get in the harbor or just uncomfortable in a 14 foot like this or comparable john boat…?
The more I think about it. The more I dont know what I want. Im thinking I might can get a larger wider johnboat with a 2000 or newer engine. Where If I go the boston whaler type route I will have to get a older late 90’s engine, like this ad?? Do yall agree
Would anyone worry about buying a 97 engine, or would it be a as long as the compression and foot checked out I wouldnt worry?
