I’m looking for a boston whaler sport type boat. Mckee craft. The right john boat. If you have something for sale. Please let me know.

Thank you, but I am looking for a flats or skiff type boat. I love flounder fishing and gigging. So I want something I can get it skinny water in. Thank you so much though

Skiffs- boston, malibu, mckee anything like these types with a 2000 or younger motor.

JOhnboat- decent size and width.

No problem, good luck with your search.

Here is a great Jon Boat. It is wide and all welded. Carpet is a little faded but you could take it off, its all aluminum underneath. Overall the boat, motor and trailer are in great shape.

Older listing, but still active: http://charleston.craigslist.org/boa/4011265724.html

Both in Beaufort (byoo, not bo)

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.

Keep an eye on Craigslist. I bought my Whaler 13 out of Daytona FL. I have a CL app on my phone that lets me put a search on as broad an area as I was willing to go to find one. I bought mine with a 2006 Merc 25hp for $3500. I love this boat. Its a little hard on the butt on choppy days but its very light and drafts a true 6". When I get stuck I get out and pull it. Plus I’m a sucker for old stuff and the fact that its older than me I think is too cool  Highly recommend an old whaler i.e. “creek jeep”

If I was going to buy a boat for gigging/shallow water fishing, there’s not much better out there than a Carolina skiff 15’. Durable, light, and drafts very little.

I wouldn’t look at much else, but that’s just my preference.

If you are bringing a spouse/family along for the ride I second Optikers comment regarding " hard on the butt". I’ve had BW Montauk 17 and McKee 186- both classic foam filled trii-hulls. The boats never suffered but the occupants did in any chop.
Stingers- not as solid but a softer ride and fine inshore; and less expensive.

I would not want gig in a fiberglass boat… oysters put a hurting on the gel coat.

I’ve heard otherwise. But if someone else has some info on this please let me know.

Im leaning towards the skiffs please give me any names or specifics in the 14 foot plus or minus range boats.

Im currently looking for bostons, mckee, carolina skifts, and johnboats. are there any other companies im missing that are similar to the carolina skiff type boats.

Those are nice, but not what BRGard is looking for as far as I gathered. I was under the impression that he was looking for a ten year old boat to kill fish, not something to wear a buff on and look good for the ladies…

To each his own.

Hard combo to beat. I have owned both this hull and motor separately. Hard to kill either.

Indigo Bay 170

Wilderness Ride 115

I am looking for a 10 year old boat to kill fish. And flounder is a favorite.

Do I need to worry about the carolina’s and such boats with regard to oysters. I dont plan on being on plane while in the shallows…I will be polling or with a trolling motor. So hitting the oysters should be at a slower rate… Do I need to worry about the bottom of these boats? I heard they are beast?

Im looking for a “couple” thousand dollar no care on the year of the skiff (still sound is only care) and the only real interest is it having a 2000’s motor.

Only other preferable option, is for it to not leave me on the water

And thanks y’all!!

Some people would never do what I do with a fiberglass boat. I beach it on oyster shells regularly to wade flats, I gig out of it bouncing on oysters probably 20 times a year, and I bang it up against bridge pilings sheepshead fishing. Sure, my little high tide isn’t the prettiest boat on the water, but that’s not what’s important to me. It flat out gets used and abused.

If you want to see how tough the carolina skiffs are, go see Sellsfish’s boat. I’m sure others make great boats too, and aluminum is always a good option if you plan to do a lot of shallow water exploration and gigging, but its not a 100% necessity.

BrGard is a nice fellow. His price range is $2300-2700. What would his best bang for his buck be? I thought mine would be perfect for him and made him a good offer but he’s leaning towards skiffs.
