I’m looking for a trailer tire/wheel so I can get a trailer home to see if it’s worth fixing up as a kayak or jon boat trailer.
I need 4.80x12 - 4 lug. Just not wanting to spring $70 if it’s not going to work…
Also, having seen the Cuda yaks with the replaceable skid plates, I’m hankering to put a skid plate on my own yaks. Ideally I’d have some old yak plastic to work with. I figure I could shape, seal and rivet it on. I can’t think of anything better than plastic from a trashed yak. Anyone got one hanging around?
Thanks,
John
hey John, harbor freight sells lots of wheels cheap. I got some 10" for 10.00 last year for a yak cart.
Thanks Henry, but I don’t think the cheap HF versions are made for the road. They sell a trailer tire that might work for around $50.
John, I’ve got all kinds of plastic pieces from boats that should work for you. As for the trailer, check with Tommy Stone’s trailer shop over here in the old village of Mt. P, he should have something for you.

Thanks Dave, I’ll have to get over to TO and pick some up. It’s all experimental and any tips that spring to mind would be appreciated…
BTW, do you guys have experience drilling a carbon paddle to change the blade angle options?
I called Tommy Stone… he didn’t have much around to offer. I think 4 lug is not so common in a 12 rim. It’s not urgent so I’ll keep looking around. Going out in the yak early in the AM but haven’t decided just where yet…
