For fishing, I use one of the cheap (< $10) digital watches from Wallyworld. They usually last me 2 or 3 years. When it breaks, I’m not out much, and I go get another one. I have been swimming out in the ocean with it on including a couple of swims in 140’. That may be cheaper than what you are looking for, but they work for me…

Yep…

The way I see it is, if it is just for fishing, why spend a ton of $$, knowing anything can happen to it. It’s kind of like my sunglasses. I use the cheap $15 or so glasses from the fishing section at walmart that work great and last me a few seasons. If I bought an expensive pair of glasses, I would lose them in no time, no matter how I have them attached…

Swiss Army Watch, can’t beat’em for the $!!

I don’t know I might have bad karma but have bought cheap ones at walmart and they do the same I got one that had a silver band and turned my wrist a funny color
so I think I need a little better than an el cheap believe me I don’t have a problem with the cheap ones but my wrist does

i have worn my rip curl ats tide watch everytime i surf and fish for three years now, still good to go, no problems what so ever

I have worn a Casio G-Shock for over a year and it has held up well. Costs about $99 at Costco. Mine doesn’t, but you can get them with a built-in compass, tides etc. Pretty cool.

All I want is a no frills watch all it needs is last more than a year water proof and has a light or glows so you can see the time at night

go to a surf shop get a nixon or freestyle tide watch

Any surfing watches work great.

I have a Timex Expedition that I have worn for more than 6 years, swim, fish, hunt, etc… All I have had to do is replace the battery and the band once. Cost $15.00 on clearance at Target.

I’d go with any of the above recommendations for watches. Wouldn’t do the same for my sunglasses though (see above). Remember they’re protecting the corneas and lenses of your eyes and you were only born with one set. Hard to justify scrimping on wrap-arounds with great UV protection. Easy to do in your 20’s and thirties, easy to regret in your 50’s and 60’s.

You all wear a watch while fishing?

I’m using a Casio G-Shock too. Mine is the “Gulfman” model. It was about $75.00 on Amazon.com and it’s held up great in saltwater for 2 years now. Plus having the tide and moon phases on your wrist comes in handy more than you would think.

My last was a Timex E don’t know much more but was a 150m watch paid 100.00 on clearance at cabelas started loosing time then loosing date sent back to Timex they fixed it about 2 months later got condensation inside and stopped
Stickman you are totally correct I wear the Costa del mar harpoons and paid about $250.00 and if I loose or break them I will the get another pair same day ,not only do they protect from the UV rays but also stops the headaches from the glare of the sun .
Good point Stickman
