Looking for a pair....

:sunglasses:Of Kayaks!!! Wondering where the best places to look for used kayaks. I would like a couple 10-12 footers. I want to find one cheap just have extra to get some friends into it and I’m wanting a new one. What are some good stores to check out local? I have been to Dicks and looked but they do not look very user friendly. I plan on buying one within the next month.

Just checked out a couple store in Mt. P and looking around. Does anyone here have the drifter from Ocean Kayaks??? I’m in a toss up between the drifter or the prowler. I’m only 5’9" @160 so I’m leaning more towards the drifter cause it is a bit smaller. I plan on taking both out a weekend and trying them out. Anyone here have any input on either kayak?

a store you might think about checking is sports authority i bought a pelican from there i love it around 450 it has 3 rod holders very stable and plenty of storage

Check Time Out sports next to Barton & Burwell (Mt P). They had a nice selection earlier this week. Also,Outdoor Store up 17 a few miles, and Mike’s Bikes on Folly Road. For the savvy angler, check out the Gladesman at Eastcapecanoes.com. A bit deep for my pockets, but I sure do enjoy being Lazy!

Hey JC, I’ve had my Drifter for about a year and a half now and I love it, great kayak and real sturdy. Out on the flats with no wind and practice you could stand on it and fish, just takes a couple of falls to get used to it. Bought it at charleston watersports in Mt. P, they have great deals and friendly. I went back and bought me a Malibu two six months ago to goof off with the wife. Personally the drifter’s the way to go, but if you’re looking for a tamdem as well the Malibu two is great, and it also converts into a single seater, I use the Malibu when my bud takes the drifter. Also something to think about, surf to sumit makes a high back fishing seat with built in rod holders, so no need to drill into the yak for the flush mounts…less holes for water to creep in. They have them at Charleston watersports too.

See ya out there.

Thanks for the input mkgil!!! Those are the two I’m leaning toward the wife is really pushing for a tamdem. I like the way the way you can change the malibu but I have read nothing but good things about the drifter. Time will tell!!!

No prob JC, The one good thing about the Malibu is that both of you could go out or you could take it out by yourself. Now the downside (which it really isn’t to me) is that theres no storage on the Malibu, but there are plenty of drybags out there that you could strap to the front of the boat which makes for quick and easy access. The cheapest (as far as price not quality) dry bags I have found are in Barton and Burwell in Mt. P. The X-large bag holds 48 L (or more, can’t quite remember) and is only 20.00 bucks. Hope the info helps out and hope to see on the water soon.
