New to coastal fishing. Would you consider a vhf radio a must have for in shore fishing? If so handheld or fixed mount? Make and model? Thanks in advance.
IMO ; More a should have inshore, must have offshore. VHF is line
of sight so the higher the antenna further the distance ; would look
kinda funny and probably hard to stand on top of motor trying to talk
on hand held ;;;just funnin:smiley:
If staying inshore a cell phone
probably all you’ll need unless you just want to listen to the chatter

I agree with Gail. I like having one to listen to chatter but will use my cell phone 95% of the time to talk to other boats inshore. It would be a must have for me past the jetties though.
