So finally i was able to get the boat to the shop turns out the small head gasket leak was sucking water and wore groove into the cylinder wall and that caused this and that and is now too expensive to repair on a 14yro nissan motor. The other is motor is weak so due to cost my cat will run a single from here on out.
If anyone is upgrading or knows where i may be able to find a inexpensive outboard 115-150 could be a 2 or 4stroke preferably 4 but ofcourse price dependent. I am looking to spend no more than $2500 anyone have any ideas?

My buddy has a 1998 200hp Merc 2 stroke that ran good when i took it off the boat last year. Pretty sure you can get it for a good deal. It has been sitting on his fence for a year, and pretty sure he forgot about it.
If interested i’ll tell him to get his azz out there and fire it up to make sure gremlins haven’t gone to work on it.

I am pretty sure as much as id like to test a 200 on the back it would probably be too heavy but i am certainly willing to listen to a price if he has a idea does he have the controls with it?
thanks

Heck I ran a Merc. long shaft 200 on my 17 wailer for years ran great but for mileage!
a 98 Merc 200 weighs about 420-lbs. You won’t find a 4 stroke with that power that can touch that.
My Honda 130 comes in at 510 lbs. A Suzuki DF140 is one of the lightest 4 strokes under 150hp. Its about 420lbs.
I’ve been shopping for a 130-150hp motor to get some weight off my boat. I’ve been leaning heavily towards the Suzuki DF140.
