Going to try and head out sat morning from Rimley weather permitting. Our crew has been off shore before but never at the helm. We have some experience coming with us but wanted to know if there are any other boats that wanted to team up and head out together. We have all the necessary safety equip but thought there might be others out there interested in doing the same thing. Plan to head out around 6 am. PM me if interested
I’d do it but I’m heading out at 4am. Looks like a good day. Catch em up.

Is the micro fleet going out?
There will be no shortage of boats out there Saturday so plently of folks able to help if by some chance you get into trouble. Hang out in the harbor and follow somebody out if that makes you feel better.
DF I’m taking the 16’ dolphin out. Plan on trolling two rods off the poling platform.

Probably. But my 22’ ain’t micro, it’s got big attitude all over it.
I doubt many will still be at the docks at 6am though.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Sweet, maybe one day all the planets will align and I can venture out a ways in my flats boat. I’ve been 10 or so miles out in the Keys on calm days but not sure if that is far enough out here to make it worth my while.
We are leaving City Marina at 430. Leaving from Chas? We will be on 16/65. Let me know if you want to meet in the harbor and ride out together.

I’m toying with the idea of puttting a crew together…it should be a parking lot.
Anybody heading out of Beaufort?

Sailflow is starting to mess with the sat forecast?
CU, I hate to ask the question, but how are you equipped? Do you have a good radio and even better antenna? Do you have a back up hand held radio? What about the rest of your survival/emergency equipment? I only ask because the points everyone is making is right on. You’ll have a TON of other boats out there, all well within VHF range. But if you have a bad radio with a poor antenna, and it’s low in the water, you might not be able to reach people depending on where you are in relation to them. If that’s the case, then consider following the “flow” of boats like was suggested already. If you see a few all headed in the same direction, and they look like your size boat, follow them so you can always reach out and touch someone. I have a 9db antenna mounted on top of my T-Top and I’ve been able to hear Charleston CG over 55 miles away from the shore with my little 22’ CC. Point is, being able to call someone for help when you are that far out is only going to be helped or hindered by your radio set up. Sorry to ramble. Good luck. I hope you find 10 50+lb’ers.
I have a 23 Grady Gulf Stream with twin 150s. I do not have an extra radio but do have a long antenna along with an epirb and man overboard on the GPS. I appreciate all of the good advice from everyone but my crew actually fell apart so it does not ill be able to make it out. If anyone is looking for a +1 to help with gas $, bait, cleaning let me know.
Post up in the fishing match up section, you’ll find lots of willing people this time of year I’m sure.
