Looking for flounder

My name is Chuck Tucker, and I am a graduate student at the College of Charleston’s Grice Marine Lab. I am looking for information on flounder spawning grounds off the coast of South Carolina. It is important that we learn about the reproductive habits of flounder because they are one of the top 3 recreationally sought after saltwater fish in the state.

Please contact me with any information regarding adult southern, gulf, or summer flounder wintertime locations, catches, habits, behaviors, sightings, or potential colleagues who have caught flounder in winter months.

I understand that many people are hesitant to give up secret flounder spots. I promise that I will not reveal or publish the specifics of your secret flounder hot spots, if you wish to discuss them with me. I’m mainly interested in the type of habitat and environmental conditions associated with the flounder.

This is a great opportunity to incorporate knowledge from the true local experts (recreational fishermen) into my scientific project. If you know where these flounder go offshore during the winter, I would love to speak with you.

Thank you for your support.

you should contact Jannell with lowcountryfishscales.com, her husband catches them in 100’ in the winter months.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll send her an email.
