I’m fairly new to shrimping in this area and have all the required gear, minus a few buddies. I’m looking for either someone to ride along on my boat (20’ cuddy cabin - the setup makes a decent casting platform, but it’s no fishing boat), or someone with a boat that needs an extra set of hands. I’ve put my wife and I onto shrimp, but we’ve never limited out (with two toddlers on board it’s tough to keep them occupied). I’m hoping to stock the freezer this season.
We’re heading to Jocassee this weekend for a little R&R, so I’ll contact you off-line next week.
Another question from a n00b: I see pictures of folks with coolers/tables full of shrimp, but no ice. Are there some PhotoShop experts on here, or what are y’all doing to keep them fresh?
I’d been taking two coolers, one saltwater/ice brine and one with just a pound of ice on the bottom. From basket to brine, then to the ice cooler once they’re cold (got two lines drawn depending on whether I have time to pull the heads. I guess I was worried that shrimp will spoil quickly.
Last thing - is it legal to toss the heads overboard?
i keep frozen water bottles in the cooler until it starts getting full. Then pull them out to fill the cooler with shrimp. They do pretty well in the cold cooler as we dehead them as soon as we get back to the dock.

^^^^^same here…maximize your 48 qts of shrimp…of course, assuming you are coolering out in the first place…that’s not really been an issue for me lately…
