I’m in the market for a used, good condition sit on top fishing kayak. I would like something around 12 feet (plus or minus a foot) for portage reasons. I would also like an upper end make/model such as Wilderness Systems, Ocean Kayak, Malibu, etc. An exception to a SOT would be the Native Ultimate 12.

Thanks, I saw those and need to look into them. There are a couple on craigslist that I like, but I cannot get the sellers to respond so either they are sold or they are not too motivated…frustrating when you have a stack of Benjamins ready to make a deal.

You might want to check with Dolphin Dave who works at TimeOut. Sometimes they have demo kayaks. He’s an excellent kayak fisherman who would be happy to help you in any way he can. Dave was instrumental and couldn’t have been more helpful when I purchased my kayak from there.
Also, I heard that the kayak rental places on Shem Creek sometimes sell some of their kayaks at the end of the season…so this might be a good time to check in to that.
I’m redy to sell my Native Manta Ray. longer than you rtarget at 14’ 7". It’s fast stable and an awesome fishing platform.

Hey, I have a 14 foot cobra kayak that was in great shape but flew off my truck so there is some cosmetic damage. i hear you can smooth out scratches with a blow torch. It was a really nice fishing platform, i rarely use it. I would sell it for 120 bucks with the seat backing. If interested lets talk.

hairball, I got the same yak, mostly due to Too Busy’s recommendation, and its a great yak. VERY fast.
I go out with my 10 yr old on the back fairly often and we have a great time fishing. Enjoy!
