Looking: Scrap drive shaft to make tool

I’m looking for a scrap drive shaft from Yamaha F50 or compatible (16mm) to make a spline tool to aid in nut removal from crankshaft. Any ideas would be appreciated!

IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE FLYWHEEL?

No. But I’m talking about the nut that holds the drive gear under the flywheel. Thanks for the reply though. Didn’t want to bug you guys at Charleston Marine. After further investigation, I don’t need to worry too much about how I get that nut off, since I just found out that the crankshaft is broken in half anyway. Wouldn’t happen to have a used crankshaft to fit a '98 Yamaha F50TRLW lying around?

IF THE CRANK IS SNAPPED, ITS HIGHLY LIKELY THE BLOCK HAS DAMAGE

That makes a lot of sense, however, the motor actually started and idled a bit after the failure, so it appeared that pistons, etc. were operating ok. Crankshaft cracked right at the top, before the first piston. I can’t see any apparent damage in the block. Any thoughts?

Even if the block isn’t damaged, a new crankshaft (retailing over $800) is out of the question. That price plus the cost of other incidental parts to put things back together properly, not to mention labor, would put the cost beyond the value of that motor in good shape. I think I need to consider re-powering this Scout 162.

that boat REALLY NEEDS a 90hp motor
find a good used 90 2 stroke Yamaha, and its a direct replacement.

Been saying that for years! Got any good used 90’s laying around? BTW- Thanks for all your thoughts and suggestions.

Update: Took the gamble on a used crank. Worked like a charm. Also took the opportunity to replace the old stiff steering bracket (so bad, it had to be cut off) with a good working used one for $100. Back in business.

Will that thing plane with a 50?
