Looks like those SC Nukes are gonna be completed after all

AI, Data Centers need it.

It will be interesting to see how the NRC replies. They are one of the many reasons the project failed.

Everything requires inspection. Every change requires a review of blueprints. Anytime something new is built there will be changes because real things don’t always fit the way it shows on a blueprint. SCANA sent employees to China to observe the AP1000 construction so they could learn about construction issues. They used that info to make changes before they got to that phase of construction.

The NRC had a staffed office on site. Despite that and the preemptive efforts, the NRC was super slow with inspections and approving changes. Those delays coupled with delays in delivery of modules were a big part of the problem.

If the papers for the pedidgree are still around, can they be trusted?

Up until the time construction stopped everything had been inspected. Good question though about the equipment that’s installed and the stuff laying around. It was stored indoors and cataloged. No telling what it looks like now.

The site prep, excavations, concrete work, underground pipes, substation upgrades, documentation and many other things that cost billions should be OK. Even if all the unprotected steel was trash the rest may be good.

FYI, Millions of dollars of the substation equipment were sold at a huge discount to Ga Power for the Vogtle 3 and 4 construction.

Replacing them at todays price will be at least 50 percent higher…and long wait times. Like a couple years for a transformer, depending on what size.

No doubt that much of the equipment is gone or no longer useable.

I’m wondering about the value of the site prep, installed concrete and UG pipe. Also wonder how much is still useable.
