I’m sure this question has been asked before, but being new to this site I haven’t seen anything about it yet. I need to convert some loran no.s to GPS dose anyone have a program to do this? I’ll be glad to pay a fee [reasonable of course], or info on where to go to have this done.
You can email me at weadair@msn.com
Have converted plenty for others and can provide you w/ references.
If the TD’s are off SC I can usually get them pretty close. The more numbers you have from the same Loran box the better. Think of the box the numbers were recorded off of as a gun and each TD is a hole in the target. What I’m having to do is zero the gun in. I can convert them almost like bore-sighting a gun out of the box, but to get them as close as possible I’ve got to see a good many shots within each area (range) to know how the gun (old loran box) used to shoot.
If the TD’s aren’t off SC, i.e. where I don’t have bottom marked from actually sitting over things with GPS and having corresponding TD numbers from when Loran still worked, then I can only confidently get you to within a few hundred feet. Not having physically marked stuff in the area TD’s are in with both loran and GPS while they both worked is like trying to zero a rifle in without seeing the target after each shot to compare what’s going on.
