lol, as in lose the anchor and call it a day?

any suggestions on anchor type for around the jetties to lessen the possibility of losing it?

A wreck anchor.

Not saying I lose one once a day but I bet there is at least one a day lost out there. The main thing I see people do is drop their anchor in the rocks. Thats gonna be tough to recover, figure out the wind and current and anchor accordingly.

this will be my first time ever being out there. i don’t have a clue how far out the rocks go from where they are on the surface. would I be safe, say… 100/200 feet away?

Look for the other boats and you will be able to tell how they are setup. What are you targeting fish wise?

mainly shark. not planning on keeping any, just going to have a little fun

If want to anchor close to the rocks to fish on the rocks , drop stern anchor out and have somebody in back of boat getting that set as your pulling in, then up front throw out a small cheap line tied to a brick deep into the rocks. Cut it loose when you leave

Yak has the operation correct except you would be better advised to point bow out to better take the wake from large ships and barges. When anchored stern toward the channel you risk getting swamped by a large wake. Also keep a knife near the line running into the rocks so you can cut that line in an emergency and swing on the bow anchor toward deeper water.
