Lost Anchor

Bob may soon have have to start an assembly line, hire a few hombres, and help jump start the economy!

Long Enuff

With my finances, I don’t think I could afford the minimum wage.
Second prototype did’nt get done today. I’m hunting down some lead to add weight. Once I get it down pat, I should be able to get these anchors rolling.
I’ll let you know.

It shouldn’t take a whole lot of weight if someone uses enough chain(I would think), which you should use a good bit anyway. Not like me with my first MM16. My 2nd MM16 has 15’ of 3/8 chain and it works very well so far. I only had 6’ of 1/4" or 5/16" chain on my first MM16 . It worked, but I had to have a much greater scope. It is still working great out there at capers BTW.:angry:[:0]:wink:
I’m sure Bob will get it as close to perfect as possible! :slightly_smiling_face:

Bob,
I would like two for a 22 ft’r.

The more we just complain…the more things stay the same.

I’m till in the proto stage. I’m going to get some lead to put in for weight. My first one (using concrete) only weighed about 3 1/2 lbs.
Also, I’ve had to take on a full time night job:angry: to help make ends meet. So that dips into my day time working hours.:yawning_face:
I have’nt forgotten about you guys.
I’ll keep you posted.

Any news Bob? Hope you’re slammed with work in the shop! Happy New Year!

I haven’t had any work in my shop in two months. No work = no cash to work on other projects. Unfortunatly I’ve given notice to my landlord that I’ll be out of my shop by the end of Jan.:angry:
I’m still going to try and build small parts (casting platforms, leaning posts, etc.) out of my garage. If I can get some cash flow, I’ll get back to working on the anchors.
My phone # will remain the same, so if you need anything, give me a call.
Thanks, Bob

■■■■ shame. I was brainstorming an idea for a short legged leaning post for my flats boat I was hopping I could get you to work on. Keep us informed on situation. I would still like to do it.
Best of luck, Steve

we actually sell an all aluminum reef anchor similar to the mity mite, they are built local, by a CF.com guy.
they are less also
$60- $70- $80 small medium large
major difference between these and the mitymite, rope attatchement point and tines are one piece.

if anyone can post a pic, I can send one

I’m now at www.teamcharlestonmarine.com

What size for a 22.5 ft boat? Is the attachment point towrad the tines end,and it’s secured by “break-away” electrical ties along the shaft?

dang Bob,hate to hear this…

maybe you will get real busy in the next week or 2…

sand N suds, I’m going to be building small parts like leaning posts in my garage, so when you’re ready just let me know. For the time being, I won’t be getting into the bigger stuff like t-tops.(Maybe when it gets warmer so I can work outside.)

Gut Wrench, whether I get busy or not, unfortunately I’ve commited to being out of my shop by the end of the month. After a lot of thought, I’ve decided that downsizing to my garage is the way to go. If things do start to pick up, I’ll start looking for another shop and try again.

I have a funny story… I lost my anchor while cobia fishing last year offshore about 20 miles in 100 ft… about5 days later I ran in to a diver and started talk to them and I jokingly said well if you dive the wreck any time soon get my anchor back and I will pay you for it… “fortress fx-11 with 30ft of 5/8 inch chain and a $75 swivel on it”… He said what kind of anchor was it…so I explained and he said “you won’t believe this but I have it”…“it almost killed me trying to bring it up with all that chain”… Small world I guess… So I paid the man and got my favorite anchor set up back for pennies on the dollar…couldn’t believe the pitting on the anchor for only being down there a few days…

$70 with 8’ of chain chain
negative on the break away
the tines and the attatchment loop are one piece

bob if you need lead let me know.i can hook you up.
i stay in leesville.

stickman, while messing around with my new reef anchor and some shackles I found that even though there is not an eye to tie off to on the tine end I can use 2 shackles on the tine end and make a connection point to attach the rope, then can zip tie it to the shaft of the anchor and zip tie to the top of the anchor, essentially making it breakaway.
