I lost three poles on Tuesday night off the Crab Bank. The poles were home made 3/4" gray PVC conduit on top 12 ft with 10 ft of brand new 1/2" metal conduit extending 3 ft from the bottom.
The tide was flood high and moving out fast. I think the air in them caused them to float up with all the water and movement. The best spot I could find was about 8-1/2 ft deep at 6:00 p.m.
I tried to go looking for them on Wednesday morning, but my shift/throttle cable froze up in Shem Creek. It took me over an hour to get it running enough to limp back to the landing.
If anyone finds the poles, I would appreciate it greatly. It is hard enough to catch shrimp with 10 poles … only 7 is a handicap.
