Went out today for some recreating with the family. On the way back the trim/tilt stopped working. I could hear it trying to work, but nothing moved. Is it the battery? it’s 3 years old. Or something more? I just changed the fish finder. Is it related to that?

thanks.
If you can ‘hear’ it trying to work, that is probably the electric motor that spins the pump (which provide hydraulic pressure). So, it is likely not battery, switch, or electric motor. You might just be low on fluid. Check your owner’s manual on how to add fluid.

Same thing happened to me last Sunday. You can here it clicking, but that’s it. I tried trimming it from the switch on the motor also, same clicking sound. Mine is a F115 yamaha, two years old. Sea Tonic, have you had any luck fixing yours. I haven’t tried yet.
Not yet, work is getting in the way!
But I had time to do a quick internet search and from the symptoms I have, it sounds like it might be the trim/tilt motor itself ($400-$600).
we’ll see!!

That sucks, probably the same problem I got
I had to replace the solenoid before on an engine that would trim down, but not up; was not the battery, either. It was a Tohatsu and it had two separate solenoids; one simply went out.
I have run into battery problems before where it would easily trim down, but not up. However, I don’t recall whether or not I heard it trying to trim and just wouldn’t go, or if I heard nothing.
Good luck!

Check your fluid. If you hear it running 9 times out of 10 its low in ATF.
