I don’t know if anyone here likes spanish mackerel but I saw all you could want this weekend from 2 to 10 miles past the jetties. Look for small white birds diving and tight balls of spanish crashing baits pushed up to the surface. They didn’t like my bass jigs but they also didn’t like the sound of twin engines running up on them. It was pretty cool to see hundreds of them darting under the boat though. Definitely spanish and not bonita trash tuna. A fly rod with the right lure could have tore them up.
