I hit the grass for the big tides last week, and the 6.1 this morning. I probably saw over 70 tails this week. At one point I had 5 fish within 50’ of the boat. For some reason, I cant buy a bite. I have tried spoons, which have worked well in the past, cane creeks rig, as well as two rigs my guide friends showed me. i must really suck! I love seeing the tails but ready to get them in the boat. Going to try the fly rod tomorrow and see if I have better luck.

Good luck with the fly rod, was it really a 6’1" this morning didn’t think that it pushed that much water, I might be finding my flat in the AM
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Thanks! I am not sure if it was really a 6.1. I just started fishing this new flat last week when it was 7.0. There wasnt alot of water, but there were plenty of pockets for the fish. Good yourself if you head out

Yeah I just looked and there is def enough water to flood a flat, I have just never fished the flats during the mid day it’s always been early or later

I usually dont see as many during the day, as I do early morning or late evening. But they were definitely out yesterday. Hope the wind lays down a little

Cane Creeks Rig? That’s new to me. Flutter hook + Gulp! is pretty effective in the grass all times of year.

Cane creek posts videos on here of fishing in the grass, and showed how he rigged his. I tried the flutter hook with gulp shrimp, and zman paddlers, and still no luck. Did see one right next to the boat hit the paddler today but couldnt hook up. Was cool to see him go after it though. If I had a real skinny boat I would have had a lot more opportunities today. They were just too far away. Did see a lot of cruisers and one that basically ran into my boat before speeding off, surprised both of us!
Hurricane; did you go today?
