lots of troutsies

Took a short trip this morning down the Stono. Took 4 doz. shrimp came home with only 3 left. Kept one trout for dinner and released the others. Couldn’t keep a line in the water. Tried some DOAs but not one bite on them.

I keep waiting to have a day like that. Good for you!

Pretty much the same thing happened to my son and me on Friday, fishing over fast moving water over shells about 6 feet deep. Starting about 2 hours after low tide the bite just turned on. Some small fish but a fair number of good sized trout. All caught under popping corks using both live shrimp and cut shrimp. It seemed to make no difference. Every cast was a hit. Very soft bite and we lost a lot of fish. We didn’t try anything other than shrimp - had a very limited window to fish before dark and we didn’t want to mess up a good thing! We left after 1 1/2 hours (6:00 pm) and fish were still biting. All fish released to catch another day. Water temp. was around 75. Who says temp has to drop below 70 for the trout bite to turn on!!!
