I see there is quite a few of people in search of a hunting club (myself included) but not many openings from what I see. My question is if there is any interest from anyone to try and get some folks together, all pitch in, buy some land and start a hunting club from the ground up. I know it would take a few years to get some ideal hunting in but I really think the work would be worth the effort. Might all sound crazy but didn’t think it would hurt to put it out there. Would be a great opportunity to get 15-20 hunters together and ensure a lifetime of great memories/hunting for ourselves and to pass on down to the youngin’s! That sounds like an expensive project… Let’s say you want to start a club with 1,000 acres which I would think is a “small” hunting club in the grand scheme of things… And let’s say you get that land for $1000 per acre. That’s a million dollars if I do my math correctly… I’m not 100% sure, but you probably need to put down about 20% on “land” nowadays, so you need to cough up $200K right off the bat. Then, the interest rate you get on land isn’t as good as a house. Let’s say you get a decent rate at 5.5%. You are looking at another $4500/mo. A club with 1,000 acres could have anywhere from 1 member to 15 or so. I doubt you want to go much higher than that. Let’s just call it 12 members to keep the math simple (12 months), even though that is a lot of members for 1,000 acres. So each member needs to pay the $4500 mortgage payment, plus someone needs to come up with the original $200K. That doesn’t even count things like land improvements, foot plot creation, planting\feeding, etc.
That seems like a steep hill to climb…
I dont know about all that… Just need to buy a 50 acre plot next to Skinnee’s and spend a lot on corn.

That’s why my 171 acres with 10 stands is perfect for 10 people. at $2400/acre each guy would have to pay about the price of a new car.

after a couple of times peeing on it and around it, they get used to it. Now some Irish Spring wittled on with a pocket knife over a corn pile will run em off.
