Lowcountry Scuba Offers First Charter

Hey guys, just wanted to put this out here too… I will put up a vibrantly colored (red hopefully) report on Sunday after the dives!

Hey divers!

This is an invitation to Lowcountry Scuba’s first public Dive Charter. It will be a lot of fun, so if you want to come out and make a few dive with us, it will be a great day!

Details:

Time Information:
Meet at Patriots Point Marina at 7:00 am
Load the boat and depart by 8:00 am
Return to Port should be around 4:30-5:00 pm

Dive Information:
We will be diving two differnt spots, which are still fairly weather dependant. The dives will include some ledges, livebottom, and maybe a wreck as well in 60-90 ft. We will see what everone (expecially the weather) wants to do the morning of

Spearfishing:
Spearfishing will be allowed at all times, we will have coolers/ice for the catch, just PLEASE don’t load your gun untill your in the water!

Cost:
We are runnning a preliminary test on thursday to calculate the exact fuel burn, but it looks like it’s going to be around $160.00 per person if not less. Money will be due (this time (late notice)) the morning of the dive or earlier. For future charters, a seat will require a deposit a few days before departure.

Boat Information:
We are chartering a 45’ Pelican dive boat, purchased as a dive boat in NC, then converted into a crew boat for TowBoat US. We have spent the last 3 months turning her back into a diving machine and getting her USCG certified, and we are ready to fly. The boat will hold up to 36 tanks, so we are looking into the possability for a 3rd dive on furture trips, for those that ARE nitrox certified.

What you need:
We will supply water, gatorade, and snacks. Feel free to BYOB and a bag lunch. There is plenty of dry storage, so pack what you need for a full day at sea (sunscreen, motion medicine ect.)

If you need more information, or you want to sign up, call the shop at 843-884-1500, or my cell - 610-

One more minor detail:

This charter is happening THIS Saturday Oct 3rd, 2009

THANKS!

I’m going to be wearing a 3m all day. I have a lycra hood and some gill gloves I’ll be sporting as well. The bottom temp should be around 76 ish, but it may be a breezy ride out. The boat has good cover, but a wet NE wind will always put the chill on. I have a fleece blanket that I cut a hole in the middle (kind of like a snuggie, but I made this thing like 8 years ago) that I wear out of the water to keep the core temp up. I will have a better vis/temp report later today when the boat gets back from the fuel run…I’m stuck in class in the mean time. I’ll post more later.

We dove yesterday. Viz was really good. Water was crystal clear.

The water was gulf stream blue and we could see AJs pass 55ft under the boat in 98ft last Friday.

“The world is a vampire.”

60’ yesterday was 35’-40’ vis, 72 at the top, 80 at the bottom. Perfect diving.

I hope you guys plan on separating the beginner spearfishermen from the rest of the divers. Like by 1/2 a mile.

I would go but Im going to be in dive class all weekend so have fun Ill talk to you later vic.
