Lowcountry Sleigh Ride - June 10

Launched from Station Creek Landing (St Helena Island) about 2 hours before low tide. Bait was everywhere. Couldn’t find anything but sharks though. But I had some fun with a couple of nice-sized bonnetheads. I got one on video: http://youtu.be/y84dBKLPiKE Please pardon the crappy editing.

I did catch and release one 19" red before the day was over though. And I saw what I think was a mink. Do they live in the marshes around here?

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.

Thats cool

That was a nice size bonnet. Thanks for sharing! Never seen one hooked under a float, every one I have ever caught have been on bottom rigs.

It was essentially a bottom rig when he hit it because I threw it right next to the bank.

Nice catch and I like the video. What were you using for bait?

I had some big honkin’ live shrimp.

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.

That is definitely what I saw. That’s one of the things I love about saltwater fishing…you just never know what you will see.

Where did you get the big honkin' live shrimp? I've been throwing the cast net on the Folly River and my creek the past three months with only a couple small shrimp; lots of juvenile pinfish, though.

Stopped at a little bait shack beside the road on the way to St Helena from Beaufort. Don’t remember the name, but maybe it was Atkins (?).

Would have been a lot easier to land that shark on my 22’ bay boat. You have my number now make sure u call me next trip! Looked like fun on the yak tho!
