Lower Keys Spring and Summer photo dump

I’m in the Lower Keys working as a Captain and Mate for the Boy Scouts of America at the Florida National High Adventure Sea Base. These are just a mess of pictures I’ve been meaning to post from the Spring and Summer. The sheephead pictures are from the CIA Sheephead Tournament I fished with Collin Clark, Ricky Baturin and Carl Hitchcock.

Very nice, makes me yearn for the Keys. We were down in Largo last July and my kids have not stopped asking when we were going back. That area is special in so many ways.

Ernest Hemmingway Lives. Is that Boy Scout place there on Islamorada , if so stayed close by there last July, great area.

There are actually two separate locations for the Florida National High Adventure Sea Base, one is the North Base (HQ) at MM 73.8 in Islamorada and the other one is the Brinton Environmental Center at MM23.8 on Summerland Key. The North Base has the SCUBA and Sailing programs and we at the BEC have the Out Island Adventure (camping for a week on our 110 acre undeveloped island), Keys Adventure and Fishing Adventure. I am strictly involved with Fishing Adventure now, taking kids from around the country out to experience different types of fishing here including backcountry, flats, sharking, reef and offshore…

I don’t want to be rich,
I just want 1 dollar more than I can spend!

Thanks for posting the pics… Is that you with the bushy red beard? That’s a serious beard for the summer!!

The kayak fishing is hilarious how fast and long did you get pulled?

< Evil is simply the absence of God >

Yes, that was my manly beard! It took 8 months to gt that manly and I figured it was time to start over…

The tarpon pulled me for about a quarter mile and it was just as fast as I would have paddled so not too terribly fast. It was a blast. I jumped 3 others that day as well. The fish gods must have been smiling on me because I sure haven’t had a day like that since!

Rap - you need to put the yak tarpon pics on the Wildy page and in the Kayak Fish SC photo contest. :sunglasses:

The manly beard had you looking about ready to audition for Santa Claus, The Early Years.
