Lower Keys Trip - Guide and DIY Input

Hi everyone,

I am heading to Big Pine Key with the wife and another couple the last week in March. This is my first trip to the keys so I have booked two days with Capt. Luke Kelly(lowerkeysflatsfishing.com). He guides out of Sugarloaf Marina and services the lower keys area. Anybody heard of this guy?

I am also interested in some DIY wading and have read that the Bahia Honda State Park is a good option. Are there any other spots I should check out close by to wade? Thanks!

Moxdawg

Ohio and missouri keys have good oceanside flats for wading. the small key sw of ohio (rachel carson) has had permit tailing on south side at high water.

I’ll start living and fishing out of Summerland Key as of tomorrow. PM me before you head down and I’ll see if I can point you in the right directions.

Do either of ya’ll have early 20s daughters you’ll be bringing?

Rap,
Are you going to guide down there or just hanging out. Pretty cool either way.
Good luck.
Chris.

My brother and I are headed down to Bahia Honda in May and also looking for good fishing spots. If anyone wants to give up some areas for baby tarpon via kayak, I’d be very greatful.

Cut, baby tarpon #'s are down. would look in residential canals and boat basins at dawn.

Rap,

I got to tell you, after taking my first trip to the keys a couple of weeks ago, I am pretty jealous of all the fishing opportunities you are going to have down there. Hope you have a blast.

Chris
