lower saluda?

trying to get a quick trip in for trout and i hav never fished there before. wat flies and were should i go to get access to the river.

Dangerous River! Always try to fish there with someone. Also check the water levels before you go. Standard nymphs and a few small dries. I heard there is access around the zoo and

they are all dumb stockers so small olive or brown buggers work well. a small beaded hares ear is about as deadly as anything. go into the zoo and go to either side of the parking lot. park and there she is. Short walk. def. the easiest access. Yes, listen to rookiefly, the water levels there rise very quickly (listen for siren that dosent always sound) A staff helps here too. The main prob, is larger rocks that a foot could get between and if the water is rising, you can get it huh. The water has been very low, so its a bit easier now to wade.

First trout I ever caught was in the Saluda on a beaded ■■■■■■■■■ hares ear.

thanks for the info i am still trying to find time to go but hopefully soon

went sat. and it absolutely sucked. 2 trout b/w us both 6inch browns. My buddy went back sun pm and there were 11 people fishing one hole.

Saluda Shoals Park. Park at the nature center (by the steel striped bass sculpture.) Hike about a mile downstream along the trail. Start fishing when you get to Corley Island it starts getting wadeable at the island and keep moving down stream. fishing holes and behind the rocks Don’t ignore the weed lines either.

Never done well there in early morning, Things usually start happening just before lunch, through late afternoon., when it warms up a bit.

Weekends suck. ususally take a vacation day or call in sick on a weekday to avoid the crowds. have the place pretty much to myselff

One thing about fishing any trout stream is that most people are lazy and don’t want to hike. Go a 1/2 mile upstream.

Thanks Starstriper. That used to be my Sunday get away. Now everybody and thier momma will be there. Let people find ther own fish unless you want to take a buddy. That fishery can’t take a lot of pressure.
