Had a baby this spring, haven’t even been able to get out yet, so I decided to concentrate on maintainance. Get my new guages in, oil changed, boat waxed, new fuel filter. Buy my two quarts of lower unit oil and pump.
Can’t get the fill or drain bolt out!!! any thoughts??? Chris V, can you email price, Honda BF 200. Can you use my honda oil? (still have a year left on warranty)
I had this same problem this year. Went to Sears and got an impact style screwdriver set ($20). It’s one that you can hit on the end with a hammer. It broke mine loose and the screw was all mangled up from a regular screwdriver.

Had my boat at mechanic a while back and upper screw was leaking a little bit and you could see gasket. He used one of those impact screwdrivers and had to hit it a couple of times and then loosen.
Looks like they would make a little better design than that to me but seems all mfgs use the same type of screw
Impact screwdriver will definitely keep you from chewing up the screw head. You don’t need them very often, but when you do, it is a nice accessory for your toolbox. Next holiday ask for one instead of a tie!
ive had the same prob on a few applications…one of them being the fill plug on the t&t res on my buddies motor. hit the impact driver once. dam, that screw was screwed. just be careful.
just make sure you don’t lose the little gasket around both screws. If you do it will leak fluid around the holes and if you don’t catch it and use the boat bye bye gear case. Speaking from experience.
