Lower unit touch-up paint

I have a '15 Yamaha VMax 115 SHO that could use some touch-up on the lower unit. I did a search online and was overwhelmed by the options available. Does anyone have any experience with a particular product you trust/like the results?

I had some trolling motor issues about a month ago and had to use the big motor to get out of the mud. In doing so, the lower unit got scratched up pretty good. I understand “normal wear and tear” but I’d like to touch this up a bit.

I’m thinking give it a good sanding and then hit it with some touch-up paint. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Yamaha makes spray can touch up paint that is color matched
most dealers stock it.
“4D” is the standard color for newer Yamaha grey.
sometimes the vmax lower units are “shiny black”
we just sold our entire stock of “4D” to one customer who is repainting his whole motor.
it will be toward the end of next week before we get more.
also, Yamaha paint is base coat and clear coat.

IF I RESPOND IN ALL CAPS, ITS NOT ON PURPOSE, AND I AM NOT YELLING

I was hoping you’d chime in, Chris V. Thanks for the tip. There are a few Yamaha dealers in my (Lexington) so I’ll check with them to see if they have some in-stock.

Thanks again!
