lowrance elite 7 hdi+gold

well i was set on buying the hds touch2 7. but money feel short and i had enough to buy the elite7… should be hear mid to end of the week…

i will try and keep posted with info likes/dislikes as i use it.

the unit i bought is the 83/200 with downscan with the navionics gold package.

the boat is a 20ft proline cc.

i will be trying to intigrate my standard horizon vhf nme2000 and possibly/hopefully adding a speed/water temp sensor as well. if that is valiable.

well if anyone has any tips on setup or what not feel free to chime in.

The transducer already has a temp / speed sensor , well mine does . I am sure you will like it . The instructions that comes with it is a bit lacking (book to small to read) but you can search the web for some help and download the manual from Lowrance website and print it out .

Fishingpox is that the 83/200

TEAM LAID BACK

Weston it is 455/800 or 83/200 or 50/200 khz without the gold.

nicefishpox… how do u like the setup? ive herd it can be a pita to get up and running right. i did get the 83/200 with down scan. i will proaby play with the color palleting… have you used the overlay at all?

if u dont mind showing me or giving me tips id run down your way to take a crash course on setting up or get an idea of what u did.

SC Shark , it’s not that hard to get used to , simple in fact after you get used to to the buttons. The downscan is where it is at for seeing fish the best . I would probably say setting the sensitivity is the biggest thing as some lakes have more dirt particles which show up believe it or not . You will pick up a bunch of single dots which is coming from the engine, cut the engine and they go away.

I set the surface clutter to low and play with the sensitivity ,only a small amount. On the photo the sensitivity was set to auto ,I had not had it long, but the auto setting is good . Setting the upper and lower limits will give you a more detailed picture .If you see a place that has fish or some good structure you want to mark just hold down the < button and got to what you saw , hit enter enter and it will save the waypoint (you can rename it whenever) hold down the > button until it goes back to where you are to resume . Play with the features all you want as you can’t mess it up . You can restore unit to defaults anytime and not lose your waypoints .

I have used the overlay which is nice , picking colors is something something of a personal preference .I like the 2 screenshots best.

You are more than welcome to come DOWN to see me if you live above Greenville , as that is where I live . Wherever you are , yes you are welcome to come .

Go http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Support/Documents/ and pick your unit , down load the pdf file and print it out on full size printer paper ,it’s about 50 pages .

This link might work for you , it should take you straight to the pdf file . If I can help in any way just ask and we can learn together.

I am getting ready to have one installed in my boat.

2006 pioneer 197 SF 150 4s

Clt you will like it .

They have a software update out , download it to your computer and put the files on a micro SD card . Put it in your unit before you turn it on and when you do turn it on it will automatically download

i have played with a few i west marine. i have gotten a little farmiliar with the settings or navigating with it.

glad yuu like it… i will keep you posted with how it works for me. intresting you say it picks up silt/dirt on the down scan. model… the bay i fish is full of particles will be intresting to see what setting’s will do to clear it up or if it picks that much up.

do you know if their is room on the navionics card for updates?

Shark you can’t download any info to the navionics card you have to buy a micro SD card for the download from your computer and then to your unit. Your unit might have the update on it .

You can later delete the info from your micro SD card to load your screen shots to . You have to have the navionics card in the unit to see the lake detail . An improvement would be to have 2 card slots but it’s not there .

You will probably want to use shallow water for your setting , I use freshwater setting because I often fish 90 feet on Keowee.

gotcha… on the navionics… leave it in… use a external sd card to update… thats pretty nifty you can take screen shots on the unit and transer them later to the sd…

well i did my install today… i hope i did it right… it is a transume unit. i used pre existing holes that were already thier. i had recently 5200 and re fiberglasses that area so it had no holes… i than 5200 the pre drilled hole and 5200 the bracket and bolts before i re installed.

i wasnt 100 perfect sure where else to mount it… do i have to go into setting’s and give the pitch/angle of the hull or is that only for thru hull units. hope i installed it in a good place… any suggestions or worries?

i have also not powered it up… i have herd you shouldnt turn a unit on outside the water.
