Anyone have any on the water experience with this unit? Especially, the 2D & Down imaging quality. I’m needing another unit for the front of the boat.
Thanks

I have an Elite 5 DSI and am sure the 7 is similar. I use mine mainly for the chart and am not overly impressed with the downscan. However, it does sometimes serve as further confirmation of what I see on my regular sonar… Larry Browning on SK’s striperboard can probably provide some of the best insights of anyone on Lowrance products.

I think striperskiff has that unit. I’m sure he will be along shortly, he has helped me in the past.
I do have one and the DSI looks OK to me. but to be honest, I really haven’t used it much and it’s my first unit with DSI, so I really don’t have anything to compare it to. It wasn’t a major factor in my decision to get an E-7. I have used it some though and like Fogman said, it has been helpfull to distinguish marks very close to the bottom I am seeing on the broadband.
As far as the 2D, I’m assuming you mean the overlay feature that overlays the the DSI and broadband screens. I haven’t tried that as I have just used a split screen for the times I have used the DSI.
I am only about 10 min from the dam, so it’s not problem to drop the boat in for a few sometime if you want to see one in use before buying.
I’ll be inshore fishing Charleston next weekend, but if the wind cooperates we’ll also be hitting a couple of the nearshore reefs for sheepshead. I’m anxious to see what the reefs look like on DSI.
