Lowrance Fishfinder question

I have a Lowrance x-4 pro on my small river boat which I love and the screen or head unit has gone out in it. It says keyboard test when you turn it on and does not respond to any keys. I know its the screen because my Lowrance x-96 off my bass boat does fine when plugged into the river boat. They have the same connections and transducers.

My question is can I use any screen that is an Eagle/Lowrance brand as long as the connections are the same? Also what features will I be giving up by going up or down a screen. for example if I find a x-4 screen instead of an x-4 pro screen will it still show arches etc? I am going to call Lowrance in the morning as well. Any advise would be appreciated.

If it plugs in, it will probably work fine.

Go to Striper Board and ask Larry Browning. Lowrance man.

Growing old is MANDATORY, Growing up is OPTIONAL!

I would try to stick with atleast the X4- Pro. The power on the X4 is so low it will not pick up near as much detail. Keep checking CL. I bet you could find one used pretty cheap.

You might be right Bob. Not a common acronym to me. Craig’s List is not where I would be looking for a depth finder.

You’d be amazed at the stuff you can find on Craigslist. A friend from work bought a metal casket(coffin) for %250.00 and turned it into a BBQ grill.

If your comment was directed at me, how in the world did you equate that not considering Craigs List as a starting point for looking for depth finders, with somehow hating Craigs List. That is a giant leap in my opinion!

There are some great buys to be found on Craigs List, but as I said, it would not be my starting point looking for depth finders. I would probably start on eBay, or some Striper board. JMO! At least with eBay you have some buyer protection. If you buy it on Craigs List, what do you do if it is not as described?
