Ok, finally have my new LOWRANCE HDS-7 GEN2 TOUCH on the way and need some help getting it installed and maybe someone with this unit to join me for some live on the lake tutorial on how to use this baby! Getting both down and structure scan transducers. Any recommendations on an installer? Getting it set up, ect.? Thanks in advance!
Do it your self. There really is nothing to do but put 2 ducers on and hook up a positive/negative wire. Oh and a yellow wire. Take less than 45min.
Also with these units do not adjust stuff. Set it on auto and let it roll. When using the set up wizard choose shallow water. Think lowrance considers anything under 200’ shallow. This will automatically set the best frequency.

I put mine on about 3 months ago. The instructions called for the transducers to be a foot apart for overlay. After installing them the best thing is to go out on the water and just spend a whole day getting used to them. Watch youtube video after video to see what all you can do with it. There is a software upgrade that will change the user interface to be exactly like the new Gen3 user interface. The only reason I mention this is that if you learn Gen2 you’ll need to relearn Gen3 when you upgrade. I haven’t updated my HDS12 Gen2 Touch yet but it is real easy. Just down load software from Lowrance website to a mini-chip insert in your unit, turn it on and it does the rest… btw I installed my unit and it is not a problem. PM me if you need some help and are in the Columbia area. Also, I mounted a piece of starboard to the transom and then mounted the transducers to that. Fewer holes in the transom.
