I am looking to upgrade my transducer. I have not been getting very good readings past 150’. I get depth while trolling but don’t get a good reading on the bottom marking fish. Anyone have a recomendation on what type of transducer I could get to fix these problems.
I’m no expert (that would turn me off) but I have the same issues with the same unit. Before shelling out more money double check your settings. Make sure you are not on shallow water which is only good up to 100ft. Also check to make sure your unit is reading the transducer that is on your boat and not a different transducer. Good luck.

^^What he said^^ I have the hds7 and also have a 50/200khz transom mount transducer. When I first installed mine, it was working, but I had problems sometimes at speed. Started reading the manual and I had to go into the menu for the sonar and select which transducer I had. After I did that, no more problems ever.

great advice above.
can you narrow down which unit you have… hds touch, hds, chirp
which transducer… lss1, lss2,
along with checking the settings i would look at your overlay… it may not be able to process that fast with 2 streams running…
the lss2 is a nice transducer/transom mount… its not super expensive… when i had the lss1 on a earlier unit it was not as responsive while running… below 30 it was fine…
the lss2 runs fine over 30 but i have yet to be in water over 80feet… i will only run regular sonar at speeds i will turn on down/side scan once i am around 12-20 today i was running both in split screen looking for structure had no issues in 40-60feet. i did have to tweak the noise/settings i was picking up allot of silt/setiment.

For sure you should check that, you have to tell the unit which trans it is using! There are several updates recently available also

Thanks guys. Took a look at this and it said transducer selected was unknown. So I looked on the transducer cable and got model off of it and selected the correct one. Won’t know how it works until maybe Monday. Thanks again.
